Summer Concert Series – Cajun Festival
August 25, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm

About this Event
Headliner:
Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys – The energetic and toe-tapping world of the American roots music, Zydeco, will shake up Kampfires Campground in a performance from one of the most influential accordionists and vocalists in modern Zydeco music. The Mayor of Opelousas, Louisiana (the Zydeco Capital of the world) calls Jeffery Broussard “one of the greatest accordion players to ever grace our beautiful Creole culture and for that matter, the world.” Broussard and his current band, The Creole Cowboys, promise both their own brand of contemporary Zydeco and inspiring renditions of Creole classics.
Other bands in the line up will include:
Easy Street Bayou – A Louisiana roots band headed by “Easy Street”s Lisa Brande and Mark Trichka of Vermont and Louisiana; and joined on drums and rubboard by popular veteran Northampton based musicians, In their “Bayou” incarnation, Easy Street focuses on the fiddle, and electric guitar to showcase great American Zydeco, Cajun, old R&B, and Swamp Pop music out of the bayous, back roads, and French Quarter. Come get into a Mardi Gras state of mind, with “Easy Street Bayou”.
Planet Zydeco – An exciting New England–based zydeco band that captures the essence of traditional rural-style accordion-driven dance music as it is played in clubs and dance halls in southwest Louisiana. Band members hail from Vermont, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, and all have played in a variety of Zydeco, Cajun, R &B, blues, swing, and folk bands down through the years. The band plays a popular mix of up-tempo songs, as well as slower blues-inspired numbers and traditional waltzes. Planet Zydeco has played for enthusiastic audiences at dances and festivals throughout the Northeast.
