Beginning with Cajun accordion at age 16\, Jesse has been playing traditional Cajun music for over 40 years with a variety of bands in various Louisiana dancehalls. \nJesse has garnered numerous Cajun French Music Association awards\, known as the “Cajun Grammys”: Traditional Band of the Year\, Accordion Player of the Year\, Male Vocalist of the Year\, Band of the Year\, and for “Memoires Dans Mon Coeur\,” Song of the Year. In 1998 Jesse Lege was inducted into the Cajun Music Hall of Fame\,and into the CFMA Official Hall of Fame in 2013 in Eunice\,La. \nPlanet Zydeco: Planet Zydeco is an exciting New England-based zydeco band that captures the essence of traditional rural-style accordion-driven dance music as it is played in clubs and dance halls in southwest Louisiana today. Bandmembers hail from the tri-state area of southern Vermont\, western Massachusetts\, and New Hampshire. \nThe Planet’s funky syncopated sound includes Rose Sinclair on accordion\, Peter Pettengill and Nick Keil on twin electric guitars and harmony vocals\, Alan Bradbury on bass\, Paul McTaggart on drums\, and Suzanne Wozniak on rubboard. The rubboard\, or frottoir\, as it is known in Louisiana\, is made of corrugated metal\, worn like a vest and played with spoons or bottle openers\, and is a rhythmic trademark of the zydeco sound. The band plays a popular mix of up-tempo songs\, as well as slower blues-inspired numbers and traditional waltzes for enthusiastic audiences throughout the Northeast. \nBayou X: From Langdon NH & Brattleboro VT\, Bayou X is southern VT/NH area’s signature high energy Cajun/Creole dance band\, performing both original and traditional Cajun & Zydeco dance music of southwest Louisiana\, as well as original and traditional music derived from the global Creole diaspora\, including New Orleans R&B\, popular and folkloric tunes from Haiti\, Martinique\, Guadeloupe & St Lucia\, Trinidadian calypso\, West African Hi-Life\, Congolese Rhumba\, and an ever evolving variety of Southern roots music genres. \nBayou X is led by New Orleans native\, Peter Simoneaux on fiddle and vocals\, with spouse & partner Linda Simoneaux on various accordions\, fiddle and vocals. As individuals they have released a total of 18 albums; their live record The Heart of the Run is their first as a band. Under the guidance of Artistic Director Mitsuko Uchida and her senior artist colleagues\, the resident musicians share with one another—and then with audiences on five weekends of public performances—the joyful and inspired results of their intensive collaborations. \nMarlboro Music was founded in 1951 by Rudolf Serkin\, Adolf and Hermann Busch\, and Marcel\, Blanche\, and Louis Moyse. For more over 65 years\, Marlboro has had a profound influence on generations of leading chamber music artists and ensembles\, recitalists\, principals in the world’s major orchestras\, singers\, composers\, artistic directors\, and teachers. \nWe invite you to join us at what The New Yorker Magazine describes as “The classical world’s most coveted retreat.” \nJuly 13-August 11\, on the campus of Marlboro College in Marlboro\, VT \nAfter three weeks of daily rehearsals\, Marlboro artists begin sharing the results of their in-depth collaborations with audiences. Public concerts are presented on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons\, and on Friday evenings\, in August. The programs will be selected from the 60-80 groups in rehearsal at any one time; only one quarter of the more than 250 works explored during the summer can be included. \nEach week\, groups who feel that they have achieved especially successful results will recommend their works for performance. The band on “Horse County” is also top-notch and includes such first call players as Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers) on bass\, Dominick Leslie (Deadly Gentlemen) on mandolin\, Mike Witcher (Peter Rowan) on dobro\, Brittany Haas (Crooked Still) and Shad Cobb on fiddles\, and Noam Pikelny (Punch Brothers) on banjo. The record was recorded by guitarist Chris Eldridge who also\, along with Jordan\, co-produced the session. \nOther bands in the line-up will include: \nThe Stockwell Brothers – The Stockwell Brothers are Green Mountain Newgrass artists. Their music spans traditional and progressive styles\, but their trademark acoustic sound features new singer/songwriter material recast with banjo\, alternative rhythms and three-part harmonies. They cover straight ahead bluegrass songs\, finger picked acoustic guitar ballads\, full tilt breakdowns and traditional mandolin tunes mixed in with more unusual fare – Americana melodies riding world beat grooves and Celtic\, jazzy\, even neo-classical instrumentals. \nPinedrop – Pinedrop’s fresh Americana sound skillfully intertwines folk and bluegrass. This four-piece band from Brattleboro\, Vermont features Derek Sensale’s mesmerizing songwriting and vocals\, Dan Bisson on upright bass\, Nick Paar on mandolin and Charlie Peckar on fiddle. Pinedrop has played venues and festivals near and far\, including MASS MoCA’s acclaimed FreshGrass Festival. \nFood trucks and brews: \nAnon’s Thai Food \nTito’s Taqueria \nWhetstone Station \nThe Nitty Gritty Details: \n\nThe festival starts at 1:00 and ends at 7:00.\nThis event is outdoors and will be held rain-or-shine.\nID’s are checked at the entrance. The Partnerz are old- and new-schoolers from a wide variety of past posses: Keene Carse (Urban Blight\, The Beastie Boys\, The Fleshtones) grounds the band with his smoothio vocals\, trombone\, and funky drumming; Trish Naudon (America’s Sweetheart\, The Natch!) laces in her sexy vocal stylings and adds her beats on the kit; Dan Seiden (The Round Band\, Lisa Loeb) brings his smart guitar and vocals to the formula; Dave Rountree (Text Betty\, Smiley Bob) locks down the low end with his bumping bass and backing vocals; Eric DeLuca (Hungry Ghost\, Lars) swipes flavorful keys across the top; and Chris Thomas (Lesion\, furniture music) adds additional dirty guitar and vocals. Cooked on “high” for one year\, the Partnerz are about to release their overdue debut album of tunes.
